Hi Everyone.

I would like to create a report that does not have any related tables using the ABC report template. They will all be defined in the "other files" area.

I plan to place code in embed points that does the data lookups, etc and stick the results into local variables which will be printed.

It seems that the template requires a primary table. Can I create this report without the primary table?

Thanks.

Hi Everyone,

Just a note to say that I kind of worked around the problem.

I created a dummy table with a dummy column with a dummy row and used that as the primary table the report procedure wanted to make the report run.

Hi Emad,

If you look at the Report Properties in the Template, you see that the report can be based on MEMORY instead of TABLE/FILE. If you choose MEMORY, you do not need a dummy table.

Hi ShankarJ,

I looked at the procedure properties but it did not have a choice of table/memory but did have a tables button.

I also clicked on the report properties button but also did see where I can make the choice.

I also went through the report wizard but it askes for a file.

Can you tell me the location of where to choose between file and memory?

Thanks.

Hi Emad,

Open the Report Procedure, click on Report Properties. On the General Tab, below th check mark for Print Preview is the DATA SOURCE drop down having three choices - FILE, QUEUE and MEMORY.

Hi ShankarJ,

Thanks. I found the dropdown and changed it to MEMORY after selecting the report from the Templates tab of the Procedure Type window. The question mark next to the button for Tables was still showing and when I click the Ok button a message "Required primary table missing" was displayed. Is there a way to stop this window from comming up?

At least for now I may need to stick with the dummy table.

Truly.

Hi Emad,

That's is a bug in the template that still requires a Table even though the report is based on a Queue or Memory. Choose any file. It does not matter as it will NOT loop through that file.

Regards

Hi ShankarJ,

Thanks for trying. I did what you suggested.

I am now using build 9054 hoping they fixed it. Maybe it will be fixed in version 7. I am looking forward to that one.

Truly,
Emad
