I have a customer that wants to activate Caller ID on a Meridian Norstar 616 flat pack with version sp 30nte08 Dr5
The model number of the phone sys is nt5b01fd-93 rel-01m
The software pack is model number nt5b10de-93
They are using m7316 phones as well
Also do you have to add a module for this or is it even possible.
Thank You

Try the Norstar Forum, but from my knowledge of Nortstar the 6X16 could not be expanded and CLID didn't exist when DR5 was in production. Your customer will need to upgrade to the 408, which can be expanded to 8X16 with keycodes, and suports CLID if you have the right trunk cards.

You need to get a m6 cid modual. it hooks up to the lines before it goes in to the system.

sell the customer a 81c

techtel is right. You need an M6 Caller ID module. Wire up the 1st 6 pairs of an amphenol connected cable to the incoming lines before they go into the system. The other end of the cable plugs into the M6 module.
Then you can program 1 extension to be the Caller ID phone. When a call comes in, the M6 will "forward" its info to that one phone and it will get the ANI display. All other extensions will have to use Feature 811 request a transfer of the the ANI from the M6.
Some customers that I have dealt with have been unhappy with the inconvenience of Feature 811 even when I set up a feature button for it. Make sure they understand this before trying to sell them an M6. They are extrememly expensive for what little they do.

Another option would be to install a newer Norstar, the 408 is expandable to 816 and has a trunk card that will support CLID.

81c's are more fun to install, i've got a 6x16 installed at home for the kids to play with, clid is a standalone that has a separate jack and reads the clid. that box is 20 years old, added clid about ten years ago. the correct answer is no, you would need a major work around, and still wouldn't be that clean for a business app. i only have 2 lines on mine and the second is a left over from dial in days, it doesn't have clid boxes but is mostly used for a fax and sometimes dialing into a switch
