A peer of mine has asked this question and from what i've read it cannot support SIP. Rather its native network protocol is Minet.

Also we want to make a "help desk" type thing and I thought about using a menu tree that can:

dial an internal extension
dial a speed dial to call outside of building.
and to make one of the menu tree numbers possibly ring into another menu tree for self help support.

Thanks!!

Jim

a 200 can't be upgraded to use SIP trunks nor SIP devices. The only way for trunks would be to use a gateway that converts it to an analog or digital circuit.

See my response to your other post for the Menu tree.

Hi thanks for the response. I didn't think so either but a peer of mine if convinced this can be done. I do not wish to get into debate with him but his VAR may have told him how to do it and he misunderstood. This is what they told him.

By the way, a 200ICP is upgradeable to a 3300 equivalent, which can support SIP/IP and more...</quote>

Yes, thank you for your info on the menu tree questions. I had not set option 319 in the COS. I can now get the system to do what I want it to do.

Thanks!!

Mitel does have a program for upgrading a SX200 to a 3300 controller that supports SIP trunks and extensions. A VAR can give you the details.

Hi, thanks for the reply. I am aware that Mitel (and rather hardily), is wanting customers to get off older hardware to newer. But my peer believes that the actual 200 can be made to use SIP without actually upgrading the hardware.

Altho, it could be worth a look, I hear Mitel gives hefty trade up credits.

Thanks again!!
