I have a new customer with a ACS the processor has a 2.1 upgrade card plugged in so I assume it was a 1.0 or 1.1 that was upgraded

we need to go to 6.0 for remote call forwarding I went to buy a 6.0 upgrade card but was told that if the processor had been upgraded once it could not be upgraded a second time and the I would need to replace the processor

is that true or is he just trying for a bigger sale ?

also it seems like I have read here that ther were power supply problems with the early processors

would you recoomend just replacing the processor or will the upgrade card do the trick ?

I have never done this but I really don't see why it can't be upgraded twice. Perhaps someone else has tried it and can help futher.

it would seem to me it could be upgraded more than once but I just talked to another supplier who said the same thing

once it has been upgraded thats it it can never be upgraded again.

This makes me wonder if they are talking about the upgrade card itself or the presser, as we all know they are only good for one time use only. I would tend to think that you could upgrade it again with the new upgrade card.

Our ACS in our office has been upgraded multiple times, it was orginally a R3 then it became a R4, R5, and now it is a R6. So, yes, you can upgrade more than once. Everytime there is a new software release we sneak away the orignal translation card and give them ours and then we upgrade our system.

that's kind of the way I was looking at it

I recntly had to upgrade a panasonic kxtd 1232 and I had a ver one that they said couldnt by upgraded that it had to be ver 3 at least

off course it is diffrent software and it upgrads with EPROM'S

I guess I'Ll take a chance and go for the $200 upgrade card

thanks for the responses

That's what I thought , it just didn't make sense not to be able to do it more than once.

well being as how its avaya we are talking about the not makes sense seems plausable :)

we could probably have a interesting thread about Avaya things that dont meake sense

well the answer is YES

I got the upgrade card in installed it went to a display phone did a feature 59 and it came up 6.0.3

so I guess the vendors who said it could only be upgraded once where mistaken

( they wouldnt say no just to sell me a new processor now would they ? ) :)
