Can a 2003 server be a RDS License Server?

I am thinking about upgrading my TS box to be a 2008 RDS server and was wondering if my License server had to be 2008? I would love to continue to use my 2003 licesnse server.

I know i would have to buy all new RDS Cals.

Any thoughts?
