Can 6110 be virtualized? 2

Subject line says all. Does anyone know if we can run 6110 CCM (small bus. ed.) on a virtual server with VM WARE?

It is working for me just fine. I'm already running Enterprise Manager and 6110 in VMWare Server which is running on Ubuntu Linux on Dell 2950 4GB RAM. Besides that 4 Windows and 8 Linux lite load VMs running on the same box. No visible speed degradation. Licencing of 6110 is tied up to the MAC address, so you have to assign the same to the virtual network adaptor.

Yes the 6110 is OFFICIALLY supported on Vmware.

As of Ent Man release 5 that is also OFFICIALLY supported on VMware

Have both working in that environment no problems

Thanks. That's the answer I was looking for. I knew EM5 was but wasn't sure about 6110.

Final question: Can we do a backup to the physical server and then restore on virtual? I would assume so but need to ask. Thanks again.

You can install VMWare migration tool (free edition) and create VM image. Preserve SID, so you will get exact copy of the system. Shutdown physical and start VM. Don't forget to adjust MAC before starting.
