New bee to this wireless stuff, need some help:

To extend the range of the wireless devices we need
access points. Can I just use 2 AP's and put in one network ?

Do I need a regular router too ?? just wanted to run an internal app use wireless.

You can add as many WAP's as you like.

If you spend £££ then theres options to automatically switch between radio devices and all sorts of other groovy options.

So to create a better wireless network in my conference room can have 3-4 WAP's (30,000 sf. ft ) connected and create a wireless network ?

Do we need to connect the WAP phsically with CAT5/6 cables ?
For any better performance ??

Why's there so many questions about 30000ft conference rooms all of a sudden??

No the Waps don't need cat 5 if they are boosters or bridges otherwise they do.

Think about it 1000 people accessing 1 wap versus 1000 people accessing 50 with load balancing......... 1:1000 v's 1:20

I personally have had poor results trying to get two identical WAPs (D-Link 2100) to act as a bridge or network expander without wiring. I have had success hooking up to a crossover cable and duplicating SSIDs and getting more strength to clients, but for maximum range you really need to look at this:

It rocks! Excellent signal everywhere, I am keeping my second WAP as a backup.

Tony,

So you are saying by connecting 2 AP's(D-LINK) with a
cross-over cable + the 2.4 GHz Wireless Range Extender Amplifier will boost the signal .

Thanks I got the solution from Symbol with WS2000 + Ap300
