Hello,

I need a guide on checking if the mirroring on my solaris server is running as well as how to recover from failed disk. (i.e breaking the mirror )

Can anyone help ?

Thanks,

use metastat |more (will show you complete status for all metdevices)

Go to google and search for "how to recover from a failed disksuite mirror" or go to sunsolve.

sundocs has user guide which you can reference.

You have two issues. I can answer one now. I will have
to look into the second issue later.

1. If your mirror is broken, your system would not have booted properly; e.g. you your system would have booted with disk errors and the console prompt indicating you needed to run fsck manually for fix it. (That would be my first clue something is amiss.)

2. Execute the 'mount' command. Your mirrors would have been
mounted with '.../md/...' in the mount string. Look at your /etc/vfstab to see what is mounted where. If you see
no 'md' in the mounted points, something is wrong.

These are just thoughts based on a mirrored E450 server.
