Hi

I am using Excel 2007.

I have a Workbook that will be updated regularly (data in their own worksheets and charts as full worksheets). I don't want to have to change the date range title for every single graph every single update so thought I would use the Camera Tool.

I have one sheet where the date title is typed in a cell. I use the camera tool which correctly creates a mirror of that title. If I change the data within the same worksheet as the camera, then the camera changes too....but it doesn't change if in the chart worksheet.

Am I doing something wrong? Thanks.

You can use any shape and in the formula bar write reference to the linked cell.

combo

All you need do is format a cell that contains all the data you want to display in you chart title. Then activate the chart enter the title textbox, activate the formula bar, select the cell containing you title info.

VOLA y'all!

Hi/Bonjour

Thanks for the info, it worked. BUT, the change doesn't appear to stay saved.

I was working on a computer and saving to the computer's C:\ drive and everything was fine. BUT then I had to save the documents to a shared drive for my colleagues and I noticed the link was broken i.e. the formula bar won't stay "activated" with the reference to the camera contents.

Any reason for that? Thanks.

How did you SAVE the document on the shared drive?

Hi

I did a save as from where I was working (keeping the same name), then I noticed it wasn't working so I "fixed" it but every time I open it up it still isn't linked.

Thanks.

Please explain what is not working:

Is it the HEADING reference as I proposed you use of is it the CAMERA reference?

And if you move the chart, does the object in question move with the chart?

Hey Skip

Sorry just seeing this again because it's still happening.

On one page I have the text that is linked to the camera object. The camera object is on a graph. I take it and place on graph and then in the formula bar, enter in the name of the named range that has the contents of the camera object.

It works while the document is open and I can change the contents on the one page which then changes on the camera object. I save the workbook and when I open it again, the reference on the formula bar is gone so any changes to the data cell isn't linked to the camera object anymore.

Are you displaying text only or graphics in the pic?

Whenever I do something like this, I use a RECTANGLE and reference my Named Range. It is persistent.

Thanks Skip. It's only text so I'll change to a shape and see what happens.
