We currently have SQL Server 2000 with 10 user CALs running on Windows Server 2003 with 10 User CALs.

We are shortly planning to upgrade to SQL Server 2005 Per Processor licensing in order to support a database to be accessed by approx 100 users.

Can I just confirm whether we also need to purchase 100 windows CALs for this system as well?

Denny has written a great FAQ on user licensing.

Thanks that seems to be a good guide. I've scanned over it though and I can't see any reference to the requirement for the Windows OS CAL's.

What I need to know is whether on top of the SQL Licensing we require windows CALs on the server for each possible user or whether we can just purchase the SQL licenses?

Yes you will need Windows CALs as well.
