Okay, hopefully this is the last of the "I inherited these problems" threads.

I've a number of users on my Nortsar-Plus telephone system whose unanswered lines don't go to their respective voicemails. Instead, it forwards to the General Delivery Mailbox. If I dial their extension, the phone rings on their end, as it should.

In addition, I've some of these afflicted extensions that are also exhibiting some other weird behavior. For example, when one users hits FTR 981 on their extension to check their voicemail, the system prompt requests they enter the mailbox number and then the password, rather than automatically log in to their extension.

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated!

Make sure Forward No Answer is set to vmails DN in Capabilties under each Terminl and Sets programming.

By default you must login with credentials.
There is a setting in F983/MBOX/CHG or Class Of Service for Auto login but not recommend due to privacy and Toll Fraud.

If the mailbox is a phantom mailbox then you must login with mailbox# then password....or if checking from a a set thats not yours and does not have a mailbox behind it.

Otherwise if checking your messages from your phone it would be just password if who ever created mailbo did it right.

ForwardNoAnswer is set 251, which is different than the extension. I assume this is the voicemail system's "extension." I've checked one of the problematic extension's settings against a working one and didn't see anything jump out at me, at least on the surface.

None of my users should have the ability to access their voicemail without authentication first.

What would make a mailbox a phantom mailbox? One of the extensions' handsets exhibiting the mailbox#/password issue will ring when the extension is dialed.

Either the system is set up for the call pilot interface, That asks for a MB and then PSWD or if you are set up for Norstar VM and you enter the PSW and access the MB in the programming of the mailboxes make sure that the extention is programed to the mail Box.
