Hi,

I am setting up a CCR where one of the paths transfers to an extension. If no one answers after 4 rings, the call should forward to another extension. If not answered in 4 rings, it should go to a third extension where it should ring indefinitely.

There is no VM box on any of these three extensions. I have tried setting the CFNA of the first extension to the second after 4 rings, and the second to the third.

I have also tried setting up a hunt group "sequential". I get the same result: after 4 rings at the first extension, Silicon Sally comes on with "the person you have called is not available".

I have tried with DRT to prime set to N, and I've tried it set to Y with a delay of 6.

When I dial the extension internally, the forwarding works correctly.

The vm is a CallPilot.

What am I doing wrong???

Thanks.

Your TRANSFER CALLBACK may be set too low. Default is 4 rings. Bump it up a bit. The v-mail is doing a transfer on the call to the first set.

MArv01,

WHere is the 'transfer callback" setting? In the VM or the switch?

THanks

It is in the switch.
You didn't mention what software you are using, but for newer stuff, go into Config, then next until SYSTEM PRGRMING, SHOW, then next until FEATURE SETTINGS, SHOW, then next until you see TRNSFR CALLBK, then hit change.

Marvo1,

This is a 6.0 CICS SIP with a Callpilot 100 with I think to be 1.5 software...

What specifically is the transfer callback feature used for?

Salo0920,
Transfer callback is for a call that is BLIND transfered, and nobody picked up on the call. Rather than the caller just sitting there in limbo with it ringing and ringing to the set that he/she was transfered to, with nobody answering the call, after a pre-determined number of rings, the call returns back to the person who made the transfer.

In the case of Phoneygirl's problem, V-mail does the transfer, but the call is returning to V-mail just as if a person did it. Same rules apply to V-mail ports as user ports.
By bumping the "Transfer Callback" up a notch to 5, the forwarding after 4 rings will take over, and do the forward as intended.
