Can anyone provide some insight here? Customer has a Partner system with a T1. When the receptionist is on the phone, their main line rings directly to the Automated Attendant, rather than ringing No Answer to the receptionist. The customer wants to be able to answer all calls that ring in during business hours. How do we make it possible to have multiple ring appearances for that DID # on the receptionist phone?

Any recommendations?

Call Coverage. A DID is like calling an extension directly from inside. If the extension is busy, it's busy. You can't treat a DID like a regular incoming line

Interesting. Can anything be done with calling groups or something like that by making the call ring on multiple extensions that will enable them to answer multiple calls without the 2nd call going to the AA? Is the only way to accomplish this with POTS/1FB lines?

I had this same problem. We just had the LEC, change the programming of the main line, to just ring the system, not be a DID. Then you can assign a few lines from the t1 on a few sets.

Hi allaboutphones,
Yes.
If you target a station port and loop it into a CO port you can do all kinds of things. You will lose caller id.

Chris - Just to make sure that I understand what you are sayiing, you are recommending that I take a digital station port (or multiple ports), and wire it into a CO Port or multiple CO Ports), and have that line appearance appear on the phones, and be answered in a No Answer situation by the Automated Attendant?

By the way, the system is an R6.0 Software System. Can you confirm that this is the only way to make a DID have multiple ring appearances on a phone, without forwarding in a busy situation when the station they are routed to is busy on a single call?

Hi allaboutphones,
Yes, you only need to use one ETR port (enhanced tip/ring), or station port wired to a CO port. If you have a call on a DID it will ring busy on the next call. This line appearance can then ring on as many phones as you wish. At that point you can have an auto attendant deal with the call or assign line ownership back to the original extension with the DID. You could send it to another extension, but that would not normally make any sense.
You may or may not have a problem with the line releasing from a station port. I've noticed this on the R7's

Chris;

Thanks. The information you provided has been very useful. I'll let you know how things work out.
