I have a customer with a Partner ACS R5 that is loosing calls when put on hold. This is an intermittent problem & tough to nail down the source. When a call is put on hold (incoming or outgoing)and is left on hold for 2-3 minutes & it will sometimes drop the caller. I was able to hear it drop when I was on hold only once. I don't think someone is picking it up and hanging it up. It almost sounded like the PMVS may have answered it and dropped it quickly. I programmed the keys on the set to show the mail's port status but could not recreate the problem. I was hoping to see if the mail was causing the problem. I have a T1 that comes into the building and breaks out to copper. The vendor says they test ok.--any suggestions? Thanks-TBW

Hi tbw,
I've never had a Partner drop calls like that. You can unplug a phone while talking & the system puts the call on hold. (unless single line phone) I'd be looking for short current drops or reversals on the copper. Could be the T1 gear dropping if it sees no data (silence). Betcha it doesn't matter what line you are on. If it does, swap CO positions on the Partner & retest.

Hi Chris,
I have to agree with you. I suspect the T1 to be the problem. The customer says it happens on all lines although I can't see it happen enough. I called the provider and asked if silence could be the problem. I know some voicemails will look for silence when no disconnect feature is available. The provider assures me that they do not have this feature. I was thinking of putting MOH on it to see if it solves the problem. I'll try the reset as well.
Thanks for the input

I had the same problem about 3 years ago I was a channel bank problem. I think the changed cards or firmware in it and it fixed it
