How do you add a new extension in CCR callpilot? The announcement says for john press 1, for jane press 2, for pete press 3. How do I add an extension for 4,& 5. Thanks

Honestly it's quite difficult for a person who isn't familiar with CCR programming to change one. I think it would be best to hire a local Norstar tech and while they're on site they can show you how to chg it.

The CallPilot Telephone Administration Guide, which you can find online, has two chapters about CCR. You will find instructions on how to do what you want.

However, these instructions are not presented in a sequential order. For example, you have to disable the CCR Tree first (in the middle of a chapter) before you can actually add a Transfer node (at the beginning of a chapter). Then, you have to record the modified CCR Tree message (at the end of a chapter).

If you can't find your way around these scattered instructions, norstarboy125 has the best advice.

I can't believe it's that difficult to add 2 ext# to an already exsting Node? So would I have to add 10 transfer nodes if I wanted 10 ext#'s?

Thanks

If you believe these changes are easy to make, go ahead and make them. Once things are thoroughly messed up, then you can call a local Norstar tech to come and clean it up for you.

I wouldn't say that it's difficult. Basically, there are 5 steps:
[ol 1]
[li]Disable the CCR Tree.[/li]
[li]Add the 2 Transfer nodes.[/li]
[li]Record the modified CCR Tree message.[/li]
[li]Enable the CCR Tree.[/li]
[li]Test to make sure it works.[/li]
[/ol]

There are some areas where it can be confusing. For example, you need to find out which CCR Tree to disable, edit and enable. You also need to figure out the path of the Transfer nodes you want to add.

We don't know how much knowledge of your Automated Attendant you have. This is the reason we suggested that you ask someone to come in, help you make the changes and show you how to do it yourself next time. That someone will work with you, on your system, and consider any custom setup you might have.

It might not be possible: 0 is usually reserved to reach the operator while 9 is usually reserved to switch to the alternate language. If it is the case, you would have to create a Menu node to hold the remaining Transfer nodes.

Thanks Multimedium for your advice. An old Nortel guy I ran into told me the easy way to do it would be to just have receptionist record the name & extension # of all people. Then go to CCR tree 1 & put in the word none, ro erase old recording. It works perfect now, I know there are a lot of different steps involved for messeging, I learned something new! Thanks again...

Yes, you are now using the Automated Attendant menu instead of the Custom Call Routing menu. Callers can immediately dial the extension number of the person they want to reach or they can press # to access the Company Directory. For larger organizations, this approach works better than an endless menu listing every single person in the company.

Did Nortel make changes to the Call Pilot? I have a few where I don't need to disable the CCR tree first.

You do not need to disable if the tree is not being used.

Call Pilot 2.1 and higher no longer require the tree to be disabled.
