Callpilot Fax Application

How do I enter pauses into the dial string to then enter a long distance code. There is about a 8 second delay from the last digit to the authcode prompt which is being given by Qwest. The Callpilot fax application work great locally, but I can not get it to work on long distance. I have used commas and have tried a # and then commas. Nothing is working for me.
