I have CallPilot and haven't had to make changes in a really long time. I reset one of the user's mailbox password and expected it to change to the default password. We then tried to log in and couldn't. I suspect my notes are wrong about the default password.

I've looked in my notes and it says something about FEATURE 981. Is this correct? Does this change the admin password or the default passwords for the mail boxes?

I believe the FEATURE 981 is a maintenance telephone trick. Is there a way to change it through the network connection software or can it only be done through a maintenance phone?

You can default a password through either the telset or through the web based interface. The web based interface is good for those who are on-site administrators. It allows you to record greetings easily and make other changes easily.

Thanks,

I worked with vendor during initial installation and my handwritten notes say that the default is 1234. Can default be changed?

I've managed to lock the mailbox. Is it timed or will I have to force an unlock. If I have to force the unlock, where do I that feature in the interface? I've looked at all the possible screens and still no luck. Either I've missed it or it's a time-out feature.

Mail Box default password is 0000
F981 allows the user to access VM from a system telephone

The vendor initialized the mailbox which makes you change the password. The common password to change it to is 1234. When you reset a password it changes it to 0000.

And to answer the question about the timed force lock if you look under COS you will find a line item the that can be changed to any number of days before the mailbox locks itself.

Gus,

I guess I might have mis-lead you. The mail box is now locked out from too many re-tries. I thought the system might allow me to re-try again after a certain number of days but I've waited and it's still locked. What feature in the web software to I use to unlock it? I've looked but can't find it. It must be labeled something that I don't understand or hidden somewhere.

Feature 983 log in is 120000 (if 2 digit extension, 1020000 if 3 digit, 10020000 if 4 digit extensions)
Select Mbox, enter that locked extensions mail box number, You will see password RESET. Select RESET. Release out. This will reset that mail box password to 0000. Use feature 981 on that phone and enter the new default password of 0000. you will then be prompted to change the password.
