Is there a way to do voice recordings for Callpilot applications using a handset? Right now, we are importing .wav files recorded on a generic PC microphone which gives a lot of static and background noise/hum.
In your voice services DN table you should have a DN listed as Prompt Maintenance. Call into the voicemail system using that DN to record and change prompts. I have used Call Pilot for a while, but I know there are a couple things you need to know before it will let you in to prompt maintenance. Maybe one of the users can give you a bit more information about that than I can.
You have to know the application ID and PASSWORD to go through Voice Item Maintenance. (Not called Prompt Mainenance in CallPilot) You can also record from the Application Builder by going to the properities of the menu/announcement sevice etc and under the prompts you can click new and go through the record process. You should have a quiet envirement to do this. It will ask for a phone number to do the recordings from. You can use it for multiple recording just dont hang up. This is the simplified explaination. Go to the help on CallPilot Application Builder for exact steps. If you are using CP Rls 2.0 or greater you will have to download the CallPilot player to the PC you are using.
Wallst, you are absolutely correct. If you do not have a decent mike and sound card, importing from .wav can sound terrible. you can call directly into Voice Item Maint. as unkalary stated but the way we do it is to:
open app. builder, open the file name you want to edit, double click the menu within that file name, select edit, then select record.
If you have not done this before, it will prompt you to enter an extension you would like call pilot to call. Enter the extension of the person who will be recording your message/menu and press ok. The software recorder will appear. Once you select the black "play" arrow it will dial your extension. When you answer the line you will hear what is already recorded. You than re-record a message of your choice.
However, I think you need to first install "Call Pilot Desktop Player". A link for this can usually be found in the Call Pilot Manager Web Screen. It's on the first screen after you log into Call Pilot Manager labled "download player".
