Howdy.

This is a stupid question, but I need a good smack with a cluestick:

When installing a CallPilot, do you need to manually set up forwarding to the VM DN (like CFNA or CFB), or will the CallPilot magically grab calls from an extension that goes unanswered that has a mailbox set up for it?

Try not to whack too hard... ;)

Calls must be programmed just like a NAM or Flash. No different. Call Pilot is still wearing its training wings.

So then how do you make it so that if an extension has one or more lines set to Appear+Ring, calls transferred to an extension will forward to the CallPilot if they go unanswered? CFNA apparently will cause *ALL* ringing calls, even calls on outside trunks, to forward.

These seem to be mutually exclusive!

Alex,
This is done by setting the AA/CCR rings to answer at an equal or lesser value than set CFNA. Where lines appear and ring on a set DO NOT use CFB.
Where no AA/CCR is set to answer, do not set CFNA on a ringing set unless the default auto destination, such as the GD mailbox on the prime phone, is set at an equal or lesser value than set CFNA.

So what you're saying is that for the situation I've outlined, the behavior I'm looking for is simply not possible?!

yes, Norstar does not distinguish between a ringing intercom and a ringing line. (add that to your wish list) so make the AA answer for example after 3 rings, then call forward your extension (or intercom) for 4 rings. that is how it's done. call pilot knows the difference between a ringing intercom and a ringing line.

or you could make the lines appear only. then only the intercom would ring.

This is not what I wanted to hear, but I suspected it to be the case. Thanks.

The way I set up call pilot or any other voice mail is to remove all lines from the sets and program a pool button to call out .This way I can use the other buttons to program different features that are very useful to my customers and I do not have any probems with the call forward feature and can set it up any way I want.

Hey, you know what? I've used line pools for outbound calling in the past for MICS systems I've installed, but applying it with a CallPilot for the smaller setups also makes a lot of sense.

Thanks! :)
