Nortel* is pleased to introduce the new CallPilot 1005r rackmount platform, planned for general availability December 12th, 2006. This new server replaces the 1002rp rackmount platform used with the Meridian 1 and Communication Server 1000 (CS1000).
The key 1005r enhancements are based upon practical field experience gained with the1002rp; including a significantly reduced footprint, increased real-time capacity, simplified maintenance, and hardware quality improvements. The 1005r debuts with 2,400 hours of storage, RAID-1 (disk mirroring), hot-swap disk drives and power supplies as standard equipment, yet is priced lower than the 1002rp platform.
Enhancements:
• Faster processor for improved performance/responsiveness
• Redundant memory to improve resiliency and reduce single points of failure
• Visual front-panel LED alarms and Intel HW Monitoring for easier maintenance
• Reduced 2U footprint for better IT fit
The CallPilot 1005r rackmount platform will support existing ELAN/MGate solutions including Communication Server 1000 Release 3.0 or higher and Meridian 1 Options 11C-81C Release 25.40 or higher. The 1005r is offered in two (2) system package options: 96 channels/MPUs or high-capacity 192 channels/288 MPUs.
Nortel will begin accepting customer orders for the 1005r beginning November 6th; however shipments will not commence until General Availability on December 12th, 2006. After general availability, shipments will be on a first ordered, first shipped basis.
1. Product Description/Solution Overview
The CallPilot 1005r hardware platform replaces the 1002rp platform for ELAN/MGate integrated systems. It also addresses the European Union Environmental Directive (EUED) which implements controlling guidelines for the use of hazardous substances in manufacturing also known as Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS). The 1005r platform will be sold as a global solution as 1002rp servers are phased out. The two market exceptions will be the United States Department of Defense and T1/SMDI markets, which will continue to use the 1002rp platform.
The 1005r is offered only in an AC version (110-240 VAC 50/60Hz) auto-switch with dual, redundant hot swappable power supplies, each serviced by its own power cord. Hard disk drives are also redundant with RAID 1 mirroring and hot swap capable. System fans are installed as one removable ‘fan bank’ which can be easily replaced if a fan fails.
