I was wondering if there is any way to install Cisco CallManager 5.X on a server other than the ones that Cisco recommends....For example, is there anyway to use a Dell box as CCM 5.X
I don't think so
But anyway, if you install CallManager on other applicance than those recommended you won't have Cisco support in case of any troubles because of this.
Yes you can, we have them running on HP Prolient DL380 servers. Our Cisco Rep got us the specs we need implement
CCM 5.x and they are running fine.
Support for them isn't that difficult to get and we saved quite a bit of money.
Did you ever get an answer to installing 5.X on a non-recommended server? We want to do the same thing for training/testing/learning purposes. Anyone know the "tricks"?
I have CCM 5.1 running on an HP Proliant DL380 G# with no issues. The minimum requirements are DVD drive, 2 Gig memory and 72Gig HD's. No special tricks or hacks. For DLU's I first built a CCM 4.1 system with 10-12 phones then did the upgrade procedure to get to CCM 5.1. Otherwise you have to purchase DLU's from Cisco, $$$$$$.
I have heard of some people running CCM 5.X on VMWare on other hardware but haven't done so myself.
