Has anyone upgraded from Callmanager 4.2 to 5.0? Trying to figure out if the newer release is the way to go. So far I am inclined to believe it is better to go with 5.0 because it runs on a linux kernal, and offers CLI access. However I came accross some vulnerability notices on the web. Anyone have any experience with version 5.0? Please let me know your experience.

I don't think you can upgrade from 4.2 to 5.0. CCM 5.0 is based on CCM 4.1 so some of the 4.2 features aren't available until the next release either 5.X or 6.0.
Unfortunately I have no experience on CCM 5.0 yet so I can't help out there.

CCM 5.1 is now available which I think adds the features missing from 5.0 that were in 4.2.

I didn't think there was any CLI access apart from to the Linux OS itself. CCM 5.x has a Browser-accessible GUI like CCM 4.x.
You can upgrade from 4.0 or 4.1 to 5.x but I think it is a bit more involved than upgrading within the Windows 2000 versions of CCM (i.e. 3.x through 4.x).

Upgrades from 4.2 to 5.0 or 5.1 are not supported currently?

Some information on compatible hardware and upgrade paths:
