Dear All,
Thanks for checking this out. I'm scratching my head over 2 issues with the Cisco CallManager (CM) 4.1 and Avaya.
First question... We're in Taiwan and connecting to Hong Kong. Taiwan is using Avaya PABX with VoIP capability. HK is using CM 4.1
They're both connected via IP trunks via a VPN network and we can make calls from HK to TW or TW to HK via VoIP with no problem. And even better, we set up on the TW end with an extension that when called and key in the correct password, you can make outgoing calls via the PSTN on TW side.
For example, if I'm in HK now, I call the designated extension in TW, key in the predefined password and I can make TW local calls as if I'm making calls directly from the TW Avaya phones.
My question is... Can we do the same for Cisco CM 4.1? Does anybody know of how to do this kind of setup, and is there a terminology for this?

My 2nd question is:
We have a problem with the Avaya to Cisco link. Our problem is that when Cisco calls, they hear ringback tone, but the call will get disconnected every 5 minutes 5 seconds, everytime...
But when the Avaya to Cisco calls, we can talk as long as we want, but the problem is that we cannot hear the ringback tone. Basically we hear nothing until the call is picked up, or answered by the Unity Manager.
Does anybody experienced anything like this before?
Please help, any inputs or ideas are greatly appreciated.
One more thing, the Avaya to Cisco trunk uses the G.711MU codec on the Avaya end while Cisco uses G.711 codec. Codec available in the Avaya system are: G.711A, G.711MU, G.729, G.729A, G.729B, G.729AB, G.723, G.723-5.3K and G.723-6.3K
Sincerely,
Calvin.
