What function does the network DNS serve in CM 6.1? I inherited a system and migrated it to a new network. I just found that the domain name on the publisher is different from the subscriber and neither are the same as my network. Also, the DNS servers point to the old environment.

Wierd thing is... everything works fine.

DNS serves the same function as in any other server. name resolution. If it is wrong then you need to change it, or it will not resolve any names that it might need to.

Assuming the cluster was setup correctly, then DNS should have no impact to call handling. Verify the phones don't reference the CCM servers by name (should be by IP address). You can then update any DNS entries that point to the cluster without effecting it internally (although if anything else points to the cluster by name, it may be effected). You can also update your DNS settings on the cluster itself. Keep in mind that it temporarily takes down the server, so it should only be done after hours.
