Callmanager Basics 1

I downloaded the two Cisco Doc System and Admin guides, but I was wondering if someone created or knows of a Callmanager doc that covers defintions and how routing occurs.

Here's one of my questions, how does a basic call route when A. someone dials a number from inside to the outside world both over IP and the PSTN.
b. someone calls an extension from the PSTN or over IP.

Can someone give me a short decscrciption of CSS, Paritions, ROute Filters, .....
