I am in the middle of transitioning from an another phone system and my users are used to dialing the voicemail extension directly to get to the voice mail attendant instead of having to dial into main number and then dialing *7 to get to their voice mail.

I thought that it would ring to the voice mail attendant as I have changed the VM group number to be one of my DID’s but it rings to the Auto attendant message that I have set up for our main number. Any thoughts on how I can get this number to ring to the Vmail auto attendant.?

Thanks

If it's a PRI, you can make a pattern for that DID# and add the digits *7 to it. Then they should here "Please enter ext. and # sign".

I tried that but it will not take the *7 under the dial plan routing entry. nay thoughts?

Did you try to do a pattern for the DID, delete all the digits and then insert the VM pilot number??? Leave the pilot as 777 or 770, however you had it and then insert that. Maybe that will work.

yes I put in a pattern that deleted all the incoming digits (5048) what do you mean by the pilot group 770 and 777 ring an d never answer?

You're not going to be able to have the DID number ring the voice mail, wait, and dial the *7 for you, and if you renumber the voice mail access number to one of your DIDs, yes it will answer with the auto attendant instead of the login sequence you get when calling internally.

So stress to your users that it is a security feature. Do you really want someone "war-dialing" to come across a number that identifies the type of voice mail and invites them to log in?

that is what I had thought. That is a good point Tommy!!!

Thanks for your help!

This group is great!
