Is there a simpler idea to call other web pages from a data results list on a web page where the user can click a button associated with each record that would call that particular record into a new web page. In other words clicking on a summary record and expanding it into a detailed web page.

I am looking at asp to accomplish this but was wondering if there is any other ideas.

Don't know if this is exactly what you're trying to do...

On my web site I have a list (a large table) of dynamically produced data items which contain several fields of information. Clicking on one of those fields opens a new window which contains even more detailed information about the list item.

Since each of the items in the list contain a unique ID generated by a database program, that's what I use to gather the "detailed information." The cgi script that dynamically produces the list inserts the ID into the call to the javascript function that opens the window and calls the cgi script to print out the details.

Because the less-detailed list could potentially be almost half a MB in size, I decided to open into a new window rather than "hide" the data with css and dynamically show it when requested.

Hope that helps.
