I have an acs 6.0 with 16 box large voice mail.
1 calling group - 71.
4 extensions in the group 11 12 13 14.
When 3 is pressed from the auto attendant the 4 telephones ring.
After 4 rings the call is returned to extension 10 as per programming. When the call gets to extension 10 it just keeps ringing. I can leave a message at extension 10 if I dial it directly, so I know it has a mailbox and has auto vms coverage.
Can I get the system to take a message at extension 10 for the calling group.

Thanks
Tom

You can TRY setting the Transfer Return Extension for 78 and 79 to themselves instead of 10. #306-78-78, #306-79-79. The call will return to the VM port, which should answer and transfer to 10, which should cover to VM since it's now a transfer instead of a Transfer Return.

Thanks TTT,
Final questions,
1. Can I have the system not play the generic message that plays when the call is answered by the voice mail system before being transferred to extension 10.

2. Can I have a mailbox that does not take a message, info only?

Thanks,
Tom

1) No, the call returns to the voicemail, VM doesn't really know what to do with it, because there isn't a matching mailbox, so it announces the "transferring to operator"

2) Log into the mailbox, option 8 is the Call Answer Mode, set it to Answer Only.
