Hello, I'm having a small problem with a calling group.

We are running a Legend, R6.1 V11.

775 is set up as our IT calling group, with 2 extensions set up on it. Call-based overflow is set to 99, and Time-based is at 40 secs. The calling group is set to overflow to our IT voicemail box. The calling group almost works as expected.. When one extension is busy, it tries the other, and when they're both busy, it rings to voicemail. However, when the phone is on the hook and it is not answered, the call will not be forwarded to voicemail. What will it take to make this happen?

Thanks in advance,
-cakestick

because the extension is still logged in, what you could do is set the calling group to auto-logout and then it will ring the phones as usual, if the call is not answered, the legend will log out the phone and render it unavaible, thus, sending the caller to the VMB. The only drawback is the user needs to press his/her ES2 button to become avaible again when they want to recieve phone calls.

I thought Auto login / Auto logout had to do with the state of the extentions after a power failure.

Anyway. What does happen to an autologin if it goes unanswered . Does it goto the next call and leave the ext. logged in? I havent't had to deal a whole lot with groups but it would be good info to remember.

Thanks

Yes, you are correct with the Power failure. Yet, if sent for autologout, I quote from the Feature reference....If a call is not answered within 30 seconds or (5 rings) the call is sent either to another member or to the front of the queue, if no calling group member is avaible.

It states nothing in auto-login about sending the call elsewhere. So, in other words, with auto-login, the call will ring the extension it was sent to until answered or until the calling party hangs-up. This type of calling group is called( and I quote), a data hunt group.

Cakestick, the easiest way to make it happen is to get your users to "logout" when off the phone. It would be nice if Avaya made that feature on a seat-sized pessure switch that would do it for the user, but they don't.

now that would be the invention of the 21st century. As well, if the workers are 1 minute late off their coffee break, it would shock them with 90V of ringing current.

haha, zap!

We've decided to go with training employees to use a logon button when they're at their desk. Thank you for the helpful replies, everybody!
