howdy all
My Configuration, Magix 3.0, Merlin Mail

Here is what I would like to have
Have a group of people.
All phones ring when someone calls group
Have an extension for this group
If no one answers call goes to the group voice mail
(don’t want to have to have people log in or out)

I have now
I set up a pool for all members, it rings at all phones and anyone can pick up, if no answer goes to voice mail. This work well except I cant direct an inside or outside call to the group, only to an individual or to an automated menu. This would be great if I had an extension for the group.

I also have another test group.
Extension 299 is primary user for lines 1 to 6
If no one answers call goes to 299 mail box
I have 8 extension/members (8 is max) to cover extension 299
Now I can direct a call to the group at 299, all phones ring, if no answer goes to voice mail. BUT I need more than 8 extensions/members to

Can we setup a calling group that members never have to log in or out.

Sorry for long winded question………..pete

For the first group. What voice mail do you have? Could you set up a transfer only mailbox with the same ext number as the group? Hit the AA and press that group number(or selector code) and that should ring all the exts in that group. (I THINK)

Magix R3.0 allows an ALL RING hunt type, but I have not experimented with it as far as overflow.

I would think that overflow WOULD NOT HAPPEN as long as a call was ringing somewhere.

Just a thought.

hmm....
thanks for the `comments...ill experiment and let you know if i succeed.........pete

I have a solution. Some say it's silly, but it works great and customers are happy with it. This really is if you plan on having 1 group. Well, you can do it with more if you have more than 1 attendant. Here is the info I gave to someone else on this board...

Yes there is but you'll have to do things in reverse.

What you can do is ...
1. Set up the night service so that the DLC and the ext's of the cordless phones and any others are in there.
2. Assign your lines to the night service as well.
3. Make sure all your lines are assigned to the DLC properly.
4. Set the DLC ext. as Principal User of all the lines.
5. Assign your night service button on the DLC, but label it "DAY". And then tell the customer to leave the button lit during the day, like a day mode.
6. Put a DND button on the DLC and label it night.
7. Make sure DLC is cover group 30.
8. Set the cover delay for the DLC to whatever you want it be if they don't answer the phone.
9. Don't assign a Mailbox to the DLC ext. Assign the ext. a box, but as a auto attendant.

And there you go. The system is really in night mode all the day with the night ring set up for a group of ext.'s.

If there is DID's involved, you have to the night ring a little different. You'll have to set up the NS to ring to a calling group rather than ext.'s and set up a group as group ring (Ver. 3 only) and put the ext's you want to ring in as the members and set it as auto login.
