in my magix system, i have a did block of 200 to 699 which covers all my extension range but obviously not my calling groups. i am using the calling group 771 and i tried to renumber the group to a number within my did block(from 771 to 466 actually) so people can call the calling group thru did...the system doesn't seem to accept the renumbering of the 771...pls give me renumbering details...

Start by printing your dial plan. The 4 must be being used somewhere. did u set the default numbering to setup space.
carefull if u didnt and im not sure if u have to or not I set all my systems to setup space. If you change it now it will renumber your whole switch to 7000 range.

rickbro...tks for ur reply...
im sure 4 is not being used by anybody and i tried using other numbers too 2xx, 3xx, and 4xx but i really cant renumber the calling group 771...
1.normally, can i renumber any extension number by any unused number?
2. what will happen to my dial plan when i do setup space? what are the things that i have to reprogram again?

Here is the easiest way to see what is happening with the number, call it from the intercom. What do you get, if you get a warble tone, the number you dialed does not exist in your system. If you get a busy or ring, the number exists somewhere. It is either most likely an ext or adjunct. If you want to go the dective way about things, go to sysrenumber-->extensions, type in the number in question and if you get the beep, it is not an extension. Then go to adjuncts, any beep??? Yet, like Rickbro said, the simple way to go about things is do a print out of your dial plan. That will tell all.

As for the set-up space, the minute you go to Default numbering-->set-up space, that is it, the first port on you system is now 7100. The only little bit of warning you get is the system has to be idle to do it. You will have to redo the dial plan in you switch, all other translations stay the same.

Good luck

i got it...tks a lot...u both deserve a star...
