calling external phone to be notified of msg in mailbox

Want to use outcalling to call external phone to be notified of a message in a mailbox

Here’s what I did
Created Mail Box ext 308(adjunct) with class of service 8 (book says 6-14)
Turned on outcalling in mail box setup
Updated calling list with phone number to dial (9*##########)
Left all other setting as default
Called and left message in mailbox but it does not call out.

Not sure how to trouble shoot this.
I have no restrictions on out going calls (as far as I know)
Should I have used a regular extension instead of an adjunt ext.
How can I check to see if it is actually trying to dial the number

When the VM port extensions were set as integrated VMI, they were automatically restricted. Go to Restriction, and change them (or at least the one connected to the 4th port of your Merlin Mail) and set it/them to unrestricted, and then go to ARS restriction and set then to FRL of 3.

I did find your reference to VM ports being restricted in one of the many books i have, thanks to you.

Instead of being in the mail section it was in a chapter called "So your mother in law is comming to visit huh ?"
love the avaya books.....

The only change from your note is I have a six port mail system so my outcalling ports are 5 & 6
