Hi

I am looking at a system proposed by a client.
This will be from windows (C++/.net/PL/SQL) undecided as yet to a suite of cobol sitting on Unix.

They are asking about whether the call should be a web service or tcpip, this is where i am a little lost as we tend to use the Unix environments only.

Any recommendations ?

Also, they are wanting to know if they can source the binary fields (defined as binary in the cobol data file) in windows so that they are readable in Cobol code.

Any assistance or idea welcomed

Web services, definitely.

Further recommendations would require knowing which COBOL is being used on the Unix side.

Come see my presentation on re-factoring COBOL applications using web services at the Micro Focus Developers Conference in Dallas.
