i want to write code so that a user pushes the same button everytime a sound goes off at different times throughout the movie. i want to put all of this in the actions layer on the first frame and leave the button itself alone.
Define a soundObject, attach your sound to it and set linkage in the Library. Then define your button handler on the first frame where that button is present on the timeline. If you want to do it on the first frame of your movie, make sure your button is present, even if it's off-stage.
