Hello,

I'm trying to set up direct 911 calling without having to dial a 9 first. BCM50 R3.0 with PRI trunks.

The only destination code in the system was 9A set to use route 001 (pri) and absorb 1.

I've added destination code 911 to use route 001 and absorb 0 as described in FAQ
This works fine except now the customer is unable to dial long distance numbers.

They're telling me they get a fast busy and see "invalid number" in the display as soon as they input any digit after pressing 9 1.

Is it necessary to program 91A or other destination codes to make this all work properly?

I'll be going back to the site Monday.

Thanks

A few stabs....

Is 9A and 911 in the Dial Plan/Public Network?
9A DN length 12
911 DN length 3

In BCM Monitor look to see what digits are actually dialed.
Example (I use 2 digit dest codes) If absorb is set to 2 then you wouldn't see the first 2 digits dialed
Exclusion (note for SIP Trunk users): If they are SIP Trunks then you will see the Dest code as being dialed in Monitor because SIP Trunks/Account/Advanced settings will quietly do the absorbing "Outbound Call Characters to Absorb" (set to 2 on my BCM)

Have you looked at Restriction Filters?

Thanks curlycord.

Should 9A and 911 be in the Dial Plan/Public Network or should they be excluded? I'll check whether they're in there or not on Monday.

I'll check BCM Monitor as you mentioned too.

I'm thinking the restriction filters are okay but I'll check to make sure. The users who are complaining say they were able to dial long distance before I added the 911 destination code.

I'll add 91A if necessary and see if this clears the trouble then post back.

Okay, I added the 91A destination code this morning and all is good.

Still not sure about why adding 911 absorb 0 prevented long distance dialing though.

911 DN length 3 is in the Dialing Plan/Public Network. Would removing it correct the long distance trouble?

I guess I could try removing it but now that I've got these people calmed down I don't want to mess with success.
