all,
I have a 412 (3.0) with 3 seperate incoming PRI lines all from the same provider. is there a way to control the outgoing caller ID displayed on recieving end? currently all lines display the same caller ID information. The phone system is shared between different groups in the same office, and they all want to display different name whenever they are calling their customers.

ikayyali,

you need to set up different restriction groups for these users, define what restriction group a user belongs to, then define different short codes for every group. in short, caller id that ipo gives out depends on short code used to place an outbound call. you can use something like 9N for short code and Ns1234567 as a telephone number, then the caller id will be 1234567. so if you set different short codes with different numbers for every restriction group, then any user that places a call will be checked against its restriction group and call will be placed with id defined in this group's short code.

Thank you for the response. greatly appreciated.

how about the name that appears on the caller ID? can you do something similar?

ikayyali,

no, unfortunately ipo does not provide any way to modify the user name sent out with caller id. afaik it just sends the user id as a name.
