A customer has a Partner ACS R6 with a 400EC Module in their 5 slot carrier. They are having a caller id issue in which that caller id works intermittently on EACH of their 4 lines. The provider came out for a vendor meet and used his radioshack caller id and connected it through a line on the phone system. Every call, 40 some odd calls, the caller id info came through on this device without problem, but not on the partner phones every time.

I've reboot the system...tried reinserting the cards...no luck...

But the interesting this is this...

Their previous provider (AT&T) in the past had corrected an issue regarding caller id, apparently took a week or so to resolve. Upon the customer switching to a new provider, the same issue surfaced once again RIGHT AFTER they switched.

None of my co-techs have ever heard of caller id going bad in a phone switch, nor have i encountered such a thing...Do i have a phone system issue or a provider issue?

Right now I am going almost though the same problem, some times i get CI every other call, but on my AT&T CI @ the mpoe i get it every time, took anther acs out , didn't get any calls , tried the acs back on the shop lines ,every time CI
the vendor is verizon, any ideas

There was an issue a fews years back with Any Media Access Card Line cards not giving consistant Call ID to Lucent/ Avaya equipment. I still have a customer receiving about 40%-50% caller ID information.

I just found out that At&t corrected this issue with that same company by replacing the NIC a few years back...is that similar to a "Media Access Card"??

Update : after a joint meet to show it was not the ACS problem, & auguring with a CO person to show that after Verizon did a reset of CI on the line it worked for a while, then every other, than not at all. they did something because now it works.
I do not know what they did, ( as usually they say we didn't do nothing )at last the customer is happy.
the onsite tech could not believe what happened

These "Any Media Access Cards" are just like DS1 Channel Units. They do go bad, like anything else. So if your lines are being served by a Remote Carrier Terminal or a channel bank like the Adtran Total Access, you are susceptible to these types of trouble. When an fxs channel unit goes bad, it can mutilate the CID data burst. Then you get errors or nothing or intermittents.

But the Partner module can go bad too, so you can't eliminate that until you have tested or replaced it.
