I received a call asking if I could install caller ID on a Nortel phone system. Since the job is a 1 hour drive I asked if they could provide details on the phone system.

It is a NT5B05CA
I think this is a 3x8 of 6x16

Can I give caller ID? or do I need more info?

I hate to drive 2 hours for nothing.
I know there is an external device that forces Caller ID it looks like a ATA. Would this work if I can find one? Probably not worth the money for a small auto supply shop.

I think that is 3X8 with DR 1 and does not support caller ID, you need DR5 or 5.1 on a 3X8.

The device you are thinking of Caller ID Module which is called C6 for 6X16 or M8 for 8X24 systems.

Thank you Curlycord. It amazes me what you know. Perhaps I will see if I can find a few analog caller ID units, or sell them on the idea of a regular phone to sit next to the managers desk.

Thanks...I learn here from my fellow tipsters too, and reminded of some as I get older too.

You can always get one of those caller ID boxes as well which takes up less room but if going with a phone at least it will be there power fail set too.
