Is it possible to get incoming caller id information (from an outside line) on the display of the Transtalk 9031 and/or the Business Cordless 905. I currently have them connected to ATL ports. I know that caller ID is not supported in this configuration. If I purchase and ETR module and connect it to a port, will the caller ID information (name/number) show on the display. I do get caller ID name/number on my MLX sets, so I have the correct port cards (408 GS/LS ID) and the correct software (release 7). Any help will be appreciated, as I hate to purchase an ETR module if I don't need it.

According to the R7 docs that I have access to, yes, if you connect your Transtalk to an ETR card, you should get caller ID info on the display. However, check with your vendor first, as free information is worth every penny paid!

As a follow up, I have completed this installation of a 9031 Transtalk phone on the Merlin Legend R7 system.

The details include:
1) The 9031 must be connected to an 016 ETR port
2) The TransTalk MUST have the button map set for a Partner system
3) The TransTalk MUST be set up to have "Line Preselection" ON
4) You should also set up a "display caller ID NAME" button on the TransTalk

Operation: When a call comes in from an outside line, press the button on the TransTalk handset that represents the ringing line. Caller ID information is then displayed on the phone. If you wish to take the call, simply press the "ON" botton on the transtalk handset and begin spekaing.

It took a while to figure it out, but it does work!

To install on a Legend R7, the card must be a 016 ETR, or will it work on a 016 tip ring card?

I have a 016tr card and cant get the 9031 to work. My local tech support said it is a setting on the receiver to get it to work. I don't believe that is correct though.

Looking for a clarification.

Thx.

The best price is not always the best value

I have heard that they WILL WORK on the T&R Port, but of course, there would not be any caller id there.

How do you do that? Where is the communication between the Legend and the transmiter? You are missing the DATA pair with a T/R port. How do you map the 9031? Merlinman, you being in Tier 3, you would know more than anyone else?

It does work, I just tested it on my Lab machine.

But, as I figured, no data pair.

It becomes/emulates a single line cordless at that point.
