OK, I need the help of the super MICS guru's at this point. My customer recently switched carriers from XO to Sprint on a PRI into thier MICS w/4.1 software. Everything went fine except that caller ID name is not working. According to the CO, it is being delivered and they are paying for it, but it is not coming thru as it should. I have checked all settings on the switch and all programming is correct. Caller Id is set up for name to appear first, set up so target lines on a few test sets are the Caller ID sets = Y, in Terminals and Sets, setup with caller ID enabled, logging set, etc...

The CO is setup as NI2, which is same on switch settings, 3 digits rec'd, protocol = B8ZS. I even went to another switch to check the settings on the switch with exact same set up....Sprint PRI w/DID's using Caller ID Name and Number where everything works perfectly. The settings match exactly, but still no "Name". When you call a DID at a test set, the number comes up and you can scroll thru "info" only to get line149 (for example) and caller ID number, but still not even an option for name?! My tech support says that if the option for "name" is not even appearing, then the caller Id info is not being passed thru from the CO to the switch, I put in a trouble ticket but they swear it is enabled.

Has anyone else had particular trouble with Caller ID "Name" info displayed like this? Any feedback is greatly appreciated! P.S. I should note that prior to the carrier change, Caller ID Name never worked with XO as well. They also said it was enabled, but the customer WASN'T being charged for it and they were set up in thier system as NAT1 instead of NAT2 (internal XO settings) they later told me would have kept the "Name" portion from being delivered. We thought the Sprint would resolve immediately, but I am concerned that this particular MICS may have some type of software corruption that may be keeping caller ID info from being delivered. Again, any help would be greatly appreciated!

Sounds like Sprint is not sending digits over the PRI. Setup a meeting to have a tech come out with a TBird and test. That way you are there and can see for yourself.

Thanks for the quick reply. I had the same reasoning in my mind, but that would not explain why all the DID's work properly...XXX-2100 thru XXX-2199 for example. In addition, the caller ID number DOES appear. What do you think?

Did you order callerid specifically with name AND number? In New York, our PRIs come with callerid number only. You have to order and pay extra for name AND number. You might want to check with the person who ordered the circuit.

Yes, in fact they are paying an additional 100 bucks a month just for that specific feature which is important to them. I recently learned that with XO (prior carrier) you only got Caller ID Number standard with PRI as well. After becoming an agent, I learned that you can actually receive it gratis if it is requested as NAT2 when the paperwork is entered into thier switch settings. I was a bit uncertain of this, but one of thier voice/data engineers verified this with me and again with his boss. Sprint is going to check the curcuit tonite. I hope for the best!

In programming under Telco in Terminals & Sets, there is a section where you tell each set to appear name delivery or number delivery. Also when you are setting up a PRI circuit....good rule of thumb is not to ever set up Bus Name! under system Programming...leave this blank.....

I agree with the teck before on the t-bird test.

just a thought.

In that heading, I have "Name" set as the first choice. I have never heard that about Business Name. I will change that setting as you suggest. Anyone else hear about that possibly effecting Caller ID? Well, I let you know what Sprint says after I call them today.

yeah don't ever fill in the Business Name. I learned that the hard way.

It works! Sprint called me and said they changed some setting, and my customer said it works fine now!? Crazy huh? you spend hours trying to make sure it's not on the vendor side and you are not losing your mind and it ends up on the telco side! Thanks for your help though and for the tip on bus name. I'll remove it from my switches as I service them.

IF YOU SET THE BUSINESS NAME YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE DIAL OUT

OLD ROLMEN WORKING ON NORTELS

Thanks PERRYPJ was wondering what the problem was with setting up the business name.

You would figure that with a problem like that Nortel would get a fix on it in at least one of their new releases.
