We have an Option 11 with a PRI for local calls and a dedicated T-1 for long distance. When we make long distance calls our outbound caller id presents itself as PRIVATE OR BLOCKED on caller id. I was told by my phone vendor it's because we have a T-1 (vs. a PRI) and that caller id doesn't work with a T-1. I just wanted to make sure that's true.

I'd appreciate any feedback.

Thanks.

The T1 is the facility (circuit) your trunks work on. Those digital trunks can be provisioned by your local or ld carrier as isdn pri trunks providing in or outbound calls on any of the channels. If the ld t1 is not isdn pri then no caller id info is passed/received. Ask the ld carrier what it would cost you guys to change them to isdn pri trunks. I have some customers who have the same arrangement and they usually want to convert to pri especially when their local service t1 is pri.

I think in order to push CLID out of the PBX, you need a D-Channel. I don't think these pbx's will push CLID out through B Channel signaling.

The carrier should be able to send your main number and company name along with the call at the CO level with out requiring you to convert to a PRI.

Your local trunks are provisioned as PRI you said. Therefore the T1 serving those local trunks is provisioned as ISDN with CLID capability(incoming and outgoing) The T1 from your ld carrier is programmed as standard dti (digital trunk interface) that uses fas signaling (facility associated) This means that all 24 channels are used for voice and the signaling is handled by each channel.
The pri uses a dchannel on channel 24 (D channle signaling) that controls all of the signaling for the other 23 b (bearer) channels

As long as there is a dchan daughter board on that card or
if it is a dual pri card then there should not be a lot of trouble to set up the pbx side as PRI on the LD T1 Speak with the LD carrier...
