I have a partner ACS R3.0 processor and a PC Card small r2 messaging.

We have caller ID on the pots lines from Verizon. That information is displayed on the 18d phones. But we are not getting the names of the callers. Before the switch was installed they were getting the names on regular telphones. Is there a way to get the names displayed?

Thanks

Look at pages 21/64 & 22/64.

Caller ID name was added with the R4 processor.

The R7 (software release "O") processor is the latest version of the ACS processor. Avaya is scheduled to roll out the R8 processor sometime in May.

Upgrading to the R7 processor might well be worth it. [idea]

If it ain't broke, I haven't fixed it yet.

You can program a button for "Name Display" (F16) which will let you toggle between name or number. The toggle works for incoming calls, as well as while you are on the phone with the incoming caller.

However, our experience with caller ID has been that most people call from cell phones anyway, which just displays "Wireless Caller", so the name is useless to us.

The processor is an R3. Caller ID name didn't appear until the R4 processor.

My bad. F16 is available on the R3 [purpleface].

Starting with the R4, both name and number will appear at the same time. I have an R7 processor installed at home. Names and numbers are displayed together.

I have an R3 and R7. My primary office uses the R7, and even though it displays both name/number, I have a bad habit of picking up the phone before looking at the screen, so it's helpful to have the Name Display button available just in case I want to see the name after I've answered the call.

Why not upgrade the R3 to an R6, upgrade cards are available on e-bay or contact a local BP to do it for you, but that might be more expensive.
