Caller ID just displays private unless cal comes from internal

We have CME and Unity Express 1.1.2. We are using the 7940 phones. We ahve this system residing on a 3550 with a 12 user license. I need to get the caler id to work. Any help would be definately appreciated by this cisco newbie.

What is your connection to the PSTN? You first need to see if your phone company is sending along the caller ID data in the first place.

Also, the 3550 is the switch you plug the phones into. What router is CME running on, and what version of IOS and CME?

Hi

Ensure that your Telco allows Caller ID. Then Find out the number of digit you are allow to send out.

Under CME Configuration, Make sure dialplan is configured properly

telephony-service
dialplan-pattern 1 xxxxxxxx... extension-length 4

Where X is your number that you want to show.

Also under ephone-dn configure caller-id parameters if needed using caller-id command
