I moved a ksu 616 to a new office and now I can't seem to get the caller id to work. I think I've installed the system properly but I'm not sure where the multi pair should be punched down. Should it be punched down on the demarc side or at the phone system side?

i think its the thingy mcbob that connects to the whats a mccallit ..you know kinda like a hopple valve near the respitatator on a hamajamit

and yes its getting this bad and we let it happen

Multi pair = 2/4/6/25/50/100 pair copper or in this case a RS 232 DB 25 connector sorry if I use a different term for it. Does the rest of my post make sense?

Where is the Multi pair coming from?
the Amp connector on the 6/16?
If so, punch it down to 66 block.

I don't understand this "Should it be punched down on the demarc side or at the phone system side?

When I asked that question I wasn't seeing the layout properly (in my mind). I am trying to figure out how it is connected to the phone lines and the phone system itself. I've tried to connect the 25 pair to the phone line coming off the street with no result. I am using the 25 pair amphenol off the call identification box. I punched it down to the 66 block then made the connections to the POTS using bridge clips. Unfortunately the guy who owns the system lost the install manual and I am having a hard time finding any info on it. It doesn't seem that hard to setup.

The only 6/16 I have installed had 6 RJ11 on the left for the trunks and an amphenol that punches down to a 66 block for the phones.

There was a call identification interface (CII) box connected to this 6/16. It's marked as a C6. The unit has a cable with amphenol connector on one end and 25 pair loose wires on the other. There is also a TCM connector that needs to be connected to one of the open station ports.

From what I remember, you just bridge the POTS lines to the pairs on the C6. The TCM connector on an open station port "monitors" the CLID tones and sends it to the appropriate phones. If it isn't working, swap polarity on the POTS lines. This sometimes will affect CLID signals going in to a Norstar.

Good Luck
Rob

It's also really important that the lines that you punch down on the 25pair from the C6 be in the proper order. Lines 1-6 on pairs 1-6 and don't mix any up. The line should be looped, from the Dmarc, to the C6, to the Phone system RJ-11s

The only phone that will display caller id automatically will be the prime set, everyone else will have to do feature 811 while the phone is ringing to see the caller-id info. Otherwise it will be seen once the call is answered.
