I am confronted with a scenario with my local phone company in which my customer wants to pass a range of their DID's to have a different Caller Name ID.

(as an example) They have purchased the block 512-555-3000 through 3999 and wants to be able to display calls made from the DID range 3500 through 3600 "XYZ company" other than what's currently being displayed "ABC Company".

the local CO says it's the customer's equipment that handles that; i say no... because they are already passing the name "ABC Company" my customer has a CS1000.

Thanks in advance,

You can pass a different CLID out per set basis with digits only, not Alfa charicters unless you have 5.0 software.

then what's it going to take to get it through the C.O. that we cannot do this through the PBX?!!!

Tell them it is thru their ss7 and if they do not know what that is to find someone who does. However, not sure about splitting that out.

Also check your RDB

EXTERNAL NAME DISPLAY
turn off network name allowed (NCNA = no) in the pri route data block. the name sent will then be what is in the telco database.
