I have a customer with a CICS and caller id card. Recently, they could not dial codes in the home area, 901 in my case. They could dial other area codes without any problems. Even if they did 10 digit dialing, it did not work. No restrictions or any thing like that were on the system. I changed the card to a ds and no problem. I then put in a caller id card of the same vintage as the original caller id card. I can call out, but caller id did not work. System is programmed for caller id. No changes to system before or after the failure. I have a butt set with caller id capability and it did receive the caller id info from the carrier. I changed the programming to no caller id setting, reset the system, changed the setting to caller id, reset the system and no change. Still no caller id. Caller id card was tested and worked.

Beats me. Any ideas? I had a similar problem with a DS card a couple of months back. Another customer could not call their local area, but could call long distance. Changed card and all was well.

tks

Years ago, I used to have issues with CICS 6.1 software failing to recognize certain digits at odd times. If this is the case, setting the line to pulse, as a test, allows the calls to go out. Rebooting the system would clear the issue for a time, but it would happen again eventually. It sounds like this may have been your issue. As far as the non CIC, CIC card...I bet you installed a faulty CID card as a replacement. Put the original back in and see if it works OK.
