I have a Norstar 0X32 4.1MICS and I want to block the outgoig Caller ID from the system. In other words, I don't want to pulse out a Caller ID from the system. The LEC says they cannot do that, and more than likely it will need to be done at the equipment.

Any Comments?

The Norstar doesn't send any sort of caller ID. The Norstar doesn't out pulse it at all. Telco does this on their side and they most certainly CAN send "private number" or something like that.

mroberts is right this is all handled by yourlocal phone company -

Could you program the Norstar using a route to dial *67(code to block caller id) for uou?

Feature 819 (4.1 and higher) outgoing Nane and Number Blocking. Good Luck!!

That would only work if they have BUSName set in System programming and specifically on a T-1 or PRI if you have that set the whole span won't work on outgoing calls.

That and you would have to do F819 on every call you place.
Kinda tedious.

Feature 819, Name and number blocking, only works on ISDN lines since the norstar sends out the Outgoing Line Identifier this gives you a way to block the ID on an ISDN line since the ISDN does not normally have *67 available as a code.

The Telco can no longer set up lines to block caller ID on all calls with the exception of Police, fire department and I beleive healthcare workers. (directive from the FCC)

If you have Loop start lines you can try this: create a route table that dials out * 6 7 pause(feature 7 8) then set up a destination code to be dialed when you want to block caller ID (if 8 is available use it) set the destination code to absorb 1 digit and use your route code that you set up earlier. now when you dial 8 plus any number it will first throw away the first digit (8) and pass the rest of the digits to the route code. the route code will first dial the * 6 7 then pause then dial the digits it received from the destination code.

Call goes out with private number or call blocked displaying at the other end (with exception of 911 of course) JerryReeve

we have a office building that needs caller ID block, to prevent people from calling back on line pool numbers and bypass the auto attendant. I was successful on setting up the feature 819, and was going to program a button on the sets for that. But it will only work on the sets that use a line pool (9) . The phones set up for prime line or private line, the dialed number is not blocked.

What am I missing?

Thanks
M

Actually, I did just what was offered in an earlier thread and it works great. No F819 needed. Just setup a route that inserts a *67 in the call and forget about it.
The only think you have to watch for is that the 67 will come out in the smdr stream so all of your calls will start with a 67. That makes call accounting more cumbersome. You need to remember to strip it out of the smdr stream as well which you can do through the smdr programming F*2

Also *67 will remove dialing restrictions for lines and sets on some, if not all, Norstar systems. *67 does this by returning a stuttered dial tone. Perhaps in a route this won't happen.
