Can someone tell me how to program a call waiting key. I am waiting for a call back from the user but after I installed CLID cards for a MICS T-1 release 1 caller ID to work I recieved a compmlaint that their call waiting keys are not working? I'm guessing they have Centrex.

Also I saw a post regarding caller ID, I am going through the similar situation with it not displaying automatically, So if you don't have 6.0 then the caller ID will not pop up automatically when a phone is ringing? You really have to press feature 811 when the phone is ringing? Please advise. Thanks

What do you mean by call waiting key? If centrex they would use the Flash key to get second call on ame line.

On a MICS only one phone per line will show the caller ID information automatically. The other phones will need to press feature 811 to see the info. On a CICS you can set it for all phones. Nortel is going to fix this in the new MICS 6.0.1 software due out soon.

You will NOT get automatic caller ID information on the second call to a phone. If the phone is in use the next call that comes in will NOT show the caller ID information without pressing F811 and the ringing line appearance.

On the MICS, caller ID is programmed in LINES>Trunk/Line data> type is loop, and CLID set: xxx where xxx is the set you want the caller ID to come up on for inbound calls. You can make the caller ID show up on more than one phone by using a hunt group - and assign all the phones you want the caller ID to show up on (or you can use feature 811 while the call rings).

Good Luck!!

Maybe it is a flash key, and it's just labeled on the phone as a call waiting. But they now after the CLID install when they hit this key they are sending the caller directly to their centrex voicemail instead of getting the other call. If you can tell me if you have come ocross this problem before and how to program this flash ket that would be great!

You need to do Feature *0 (button inquiry) and then press key to see what it is. Then if you want to program as flash key dial feature *3 (feature key programming), presss key to program, dial Feature 71 (link/hookflash).

Good Luck!!

Lynmar,
Make sure your telco didn't disconnect the call waiting feature in favor of the CLID feature. Some Telcos have a set bundle of 3 features before you start paying extra for them. The call waiting feature is activated on some phones using 'link or flash' as executone states above. So if your company has cancelled call waiting in favor of voice mail or just cancelled altogether, then this could result in the observed effects you are stating.
