Hi,
I have been making quite a few norstar installations in the past few years but always had a problem understand the best way to configure this:

Receptionist want to transfer call to an internal phone, then if no answer, it need to be transfered directly to the voice mail. Usually I would put FWD on No Answer to 4 rings. But if the same phone rings on external lines, then after 4 rings of an external line, all the callers get answered by that person's voice mail.

What's the best way around this ??

Thanks !

Put the external lines into a hunt group and assign users of that hunt group accordingly. Bear in mind that you cannot have line appearances on the set if those lines are in the same hunt group assigned earlier.

Basically Hunt Group calls will not follow forwarding at the set level. The only things that affect hunt groups are the hunt group overflow and transfer callback if the cal is transferred to the hunt group via a users phone or the auto attendant.

Great, will look into this. But from what I understand, the user will not see the different lines anymores on his set, which might become another issue.

Thanks !!

Another method or if no Hunt Groups...

Assign Prime Set to Receptions DN under ALL lines
Set DRT to Prime
Set the DRT or Transfer Call back timer (or both depending on application) to less rings then the CFNA setting.
