A customer wants to be able to give his callers the option of either leaving a message OR being able to prompt callers to transfer to a DESIRED extension to leave a message. I know this can be done by hitting zero and leaving a message in the general mailbox (x10)...but is there a way to have callers choose another extension to leave a message in during the time they are hearing the greeting of the original mailbox???

I think *8 allows a caller to transfer to another extension.

Try incorporating that into part of a personal greeting. Something like " Hi you have reached John Smith. I am not at my desk so please leave me a message after the tone. If you would like to leave a message for someone else, please press *8 and the extension you wish to reach and the # sign and you will be transferred".

There may be a better way to do the transfer, but this is what first popped into my mind. [lol]
